Missouri fourth congressional district GOP candidate Bill Irwin emphasizes border security on “Wake Up Columbia”

Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Bill Irwin is emphasizing border security in his campaign for west-central Missouri’s fourth congressional district seat. He’s seeking the GOP nomination. During a live interview on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Columbia,” Irwin says the United States could secure the southern border with Mexico tomorrow without adding new tax burdens to taxpayers. He also slammed the “Defund the Police” movement, and expresses frustration with the GOP-controlled Missouri Legislature for not approving a congressional redistricting map yet. Irwin is campaigning today in Columbia, but it’s still unclear whether Columbia/Boone County will remain in the fourth district, after redistricting:

Saying “Missourians and Americans need candidates who will fight to SAVE AMERICA,” Bill Irwin announced he is running for Congress. “Today I am announcing my campaign for US Congress to push back against the lies and cons of socialism and oppressive government. I’ve been told we need experienced politicians and only experienced politicians can serve us in Washington. But I ask you, where has this so-called experience led us as a country?”

Lee’s Summit Republican Bill Irwin joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Columbia” to outline his platform, which includes veteran issues. Mr. Irwin says 22 veterans a day are committing suicide, and he’s concerned about PTSD. He’s also focused on small businesses and on family farmers in the sprawling fourth district, which includes Columbia, Moberly, Boonville and Sedalia. Bill Irwin, a retired Navy SEAL captain and former Lee’s Summit police officer, has launched a bid for Congress in Missouri’s 4th congressional district. Late last year, the pastor of Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit, where Irwin is a member, gave a sermon about “saving America.” Irwin and his wife, Barbara, weighed some options: teaching more at the police academy, ramping up volunteer work, putting more time into family events, or dabbling in politics.

Bill Irwin premiered On Beckett at the Irish Repertory Theatre in 2018. In the piece he explored Samuel Beckett’s writing by performing selections and offering commentary about the impact the Irish author has had on his life. When the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered theaters, the Irish Rep turned to the internet to stream productions online.
