Theatre Faculty Karole Foreman Performs at LB Beverly O’Neill

Chapman Department of Theatre faculty member Karole Foreman is performing through November 7, 2021, in BLUES IN THE NIGHT directed by Wren T. Brown at the Long Beach Beverly O’Neill Theater. Produced in association with L.A. Ebony Repertory Theatre, the Tony- and Olivier-award nominated, Sheldon Epps-conceived musical shares the universal language of the blues with little spoken text, interweaving stories “defined through glorious songs that cover the range of this indigenous American art form, from Bessie Smith to Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Alberta Hunter, Jimmy Cox, Ida Cox and more.”

City Council will consider naming Performing Arts Center after former Mayor Beverly O’Neill

The Long Beach Performing Arts Center could soon be named after Beverly O’Neill, who served as mayor for 12 years until 2006. - ADVERTISEMENT - Mayor Robert Garcia and Councilwoman Cindy Allen, whose district includes the performing arts center, added the renaming recommendation to the council’s Feb. 16 meeting agenda. The full council could send it to the city’s Government and Elections Oversight Committee, which is in charge of naming decisions.
