Orioles' Beau Taylor: Falls short of roster spot

Taylor didn't make the Orioles' Opening Day roster and was reassigned to the minors Wednesday, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports. Taylor was in camp as added catcher depth after Adley Rutschman (triceps) got hurt in March. Per Silver, Taylor will stay with the Orioles' organization -- he should split time with fellow roster cut Jacob Nottingham at Triple-A Norfolk until Rutschman is healthy enough to play. Taylor slashed .234/.341/.335 in 74 games with Triple-A Louisville last season as part of the Reds' organization.

Reds' Beau Taylor: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Reds designated Taylor for assignment Monday. Taylor's removal from the 40-man roster clears a spot for lefty pitcher Reiver Sanmartin, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville ahead of his scheduled start Monday against the Pirates. After being claimed off waivers from Cleveland in the spring, the 31-year-old Taylor has played exclusively for Louisville in 2021, slashing .234/.341/.335 across 233 plate appearances.

Reds claim catcher Beau Taylor, DFA catcher Deivy Grullón

The Cincinnati Reds made three roster moves this afternoon before their game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The team picked off catcher Beau Taylor off of waivers from their spring training roommate Cleveland. To create room on the 40-man roster the team designated catcher Deivy Grullón for assignment. Earlier in the week the team designated right-handed pitcher Edgar García for assignment. He cleared waivers today and was outrighted to the alternate training site.

Reds' Beau Taylor: Claimed, optioned by Reds

Taylor was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Saturday and optioned to the team's alternate training site. Taylor won't have to move too far after being designated by assignment by Cleveland in late March. The 31-year-old will be a depth option behind the plate for his new organization but has done nothing to show he deserves regular opportunities in his 60 major-league plate appearances to date, hitting .118/.237/.255.

Indians' Beau Taylor: Won't make Opening Day roster

Taylor was informed Sunday that he won't be on Cleveland's Opening Day roster, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. The 31-year-old was never a likely bet to open the season with Cleveland since Roberto Perez and Austin Hedges have remained healthy in camp. Taylor figures to be the top option for a promotion if Perez or Hedges face any injury issues this season.
