Barbara McClintock

- Award: Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine - Year: 1983 By studying the hereditary of corn, such as the different colors of kernels, Barbara McClintock proved that genetic elements can sometimes swap into a new position on a chromosome. McClintock, who was from Connecticut, studied at Cornell’s College of Agriculture.
