Austin Brown has the potential to help Wisconsin early

MADISON, Wis. -- According to defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, Austin Brown (Johnston City, Ill.) is a safety and that's the end of the discussion. A year earlier, Leonhard also signed a prized four-star safety in the class of 2021, only to watch Braelon Allen move to running back where he dominated as a true freshman, rushing for 1,109 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 10 games en route to being named a freshman All-American.

Early Signing Day: 2022 S Austin Brown makes it official

Committed since the Fourth of July, safety prospect Austin Brown of Johnston City, Illinois was finally able to put pen to paper on Wednesday and become a Wisconsin Badger. One of the Midwest's top safeties, Brown is a fast and athletic defender that plays all over the field. He is projected to start out in the secondary, but his ability to get downhill and 200-pound frame allow him to make plays in the box frequently as well.
