Anthony Mills leaving Colonial Forge to coach basketball at Potomac

Anthony Mills wasn’t looking to depart Colonial Forge after four years as its boys basketball coach. But when his alma mater, Potomac High School, was seeking a replacement to veteran Keith Honore, who recently retired after 16 seasons, two state championships and more than 300 victories, Mills couldn’t help but consider returning home to Dumfries.

Potomac names Anthony Mills as new head boys basketball coach

Anthony Mills always considered the Potomac High School boys basketball coaching position an ideal opportunity. Mills graduated from the Dumfries-based school in 2005 and was a member of the 2004 Group AAA state finalist that finished 29-1. But as he rose up the coaching ranks to run the Battlefield girls program first followed by boys jobs at King George and Colonial Forge, Mills never knew for sure if the chance would come to take over at Potomac any time soon.

Anthony Mills: Response goes awry

Many thanks to Thom McCombs for his response to my letter. Allow me to say, what I had wrote had a track line. What you wrote resembled a ping pong ball gone awry. Among what you claim, at the end of World War II, the United States conquered the world. Hmmm, after a moment’s reflection, how is that? The United States and its allies stopped and toppled three dictators — one from Austria, one from Italy and another from Japan. Two more monstrous dictators and their sidekicks remained. Those two — and their sidekicks — have since passed away.

Anthony Mills: Idiots Delight

It has been the standard since the aftermath of the Vietnam War to elect leaders who have refined the image of leadership-less-ness. This modus operandi is now prevalent throughout North America, the NATO and European Union members and Scandinavia. They employ elegant language, and, underneath that, it is go with the flow.

Anthony Mills: A message from ‘Uncle Bernie’

A few days ago, “Uncle,” Bernie (alias for Sen. Bernard — Bernie — Sanders) sent out a message via electronic mail (e-mail) from his Washington D.C. office. The message was that the Electoral College has to go (be deleted) as (according to, “Uncle,” Bernie) it is outdated and of what value?

Anthony Mills: Why so ‘giddy’?

The front page of the Dec.18 edition of the Vallejo Times-Herald headline read: “Giddy about infrastructure bill.”. In short, the “Infrastructure,” bill allots billions of dollars for highway, bridges, public transit systems and $385 million for electric automobile re-charge stations. Be advised that highways, bridges, and transit stations contribute — according to, “progressive” environmentalists — to climate change.

Anthony Mills: Record times

This is the time when records are broken — record heat, record cold, record drought (though it is raining outside, thank goodness) record forest fires, record rain, record national and state deficit and debt, record taxes, record-high vehicle fees, record vehicle fuel prices that result with record-high retail prices, record-low church attendance and record Dollar Store business and record exodus from California.

Anthony Mills: The beat goes on … for now

What the recall election results of Sept. 14 reveals is that the State of California and many other states are on the irrevocable road to a cul-de-sac socialism. Stockpile that debt and worry not. Spend today, spend tomorrow, and close your eyes to what is inevitable to transpire. And when the walls come tumbling down, blame anyone and/or anything other than they who engineered what is to take place.
