Aminu Mohammed named Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year

CHICAGO (June 4, 2021) — In its 36th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Aminu Mohammed of Greenwood Laboratory School as its 2020-21 Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Mohammed is the first Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Greenwood Laboratory School.

Aminu Mohammed is one of the best shooting guard in the country putting him at the #3 spot nationally at his position and currently committed to Georgetown University next year. Greenwood went up against Sunrise Christian Varsity team in the R-12 Winter Classic at Missouri State which is a replacement event of the Bass Pro Tournament of Championship due to the health threat.

2021 Five Star Aminu Mohammed Commits to Georgetown

The Big East has had a strong recruiting record recently, with Villanova, UConn, Creighton, and Depaul ranking in the top 15 nationally this year. Another Big East team is joining them in the top 15. The Georgetown Hoyas move up to 6th nationally with the commitment of 2021 Five Star Guard Aminu Mohammed. He is the Hoya’s first Five Star commitment since Issac Copeland in 2014. He joins 4 Star Ryan Mutumbo, three stars Tyler Beard, Jordan Riley, and Jalin Billingsley. As a result of Aminu’s commitment, Georgetown has a huge win in what has been a difficult decade, with the last year encompassing all that has gone wrong with the program. Aminu is ranked 16th in the country and is currently sitting at 2nd in the nation for shooting guards.
