Pacers sign Amida Brimah to two-way contract, release Brian Bowen II

The Pacers made a move on the fringe of their roster Friday, releasing Brian Bowen II and signing Amida Brimah to take Bowen’s spot with a two-way contract. However, the move raises questions about the status of Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner for the reminder of the season since Brimah is a center which could thrust him into a role in the playing rotation out of necessity, if the Pacers expect to remain short-handed in the front court for the final few weeks of the season.

Pacers Sign Amida Brimah

The Pacers sit as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference but are just 4.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the fifth seed. Brimah is a 7-foot big man who spent time on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this season and has also spent time with the Austin Spurs over the years. He was a member of the 2013-14 UCONN Men's Basketball Championship team, and the news to add a big-man is not surprising after the Pacers announced Myles Turner would be out indefinitely with a toe injury.
