Alice Braga Joins Ben Affleck in Robert Rodriguez Thriller HYPNOTIC Due to Start Shooting in September

Alice Braga (I Am Legend, Elysium, Queen of the South) has joined the cast of the thriller pic Hypnotic that is being directed by Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Alita: Battle Angel). Braga will star opposite Ben Affleck in the action flick that “will follow a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program while investigating a string of high-end crimes.”

Announced as far back as 2018, Hypnotic is a mind-bending action thriller about a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end crimes. The film is written by Rodriguez and Max Borenstein (Godzilla franchise, The Terror). Rodriguez, Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov and his colleagues Guy Danella & John Graham are producing with Solstice Studios.

And one of the many, many productions to get hit by the pandemic is “Hypnotic” from Robert Rodriguez. But more than a year after it was set to begin filming, it appears the thriller starring Ben Affleck is back on track, adding a new member to the cast and figuring out a filming date and location.

Keep an eye out for Ben Affleck and Alice Braga around town as they both begin filming new thriller "Hypnotic," from right here in Austin in September. The movie, brought to life by "Spy Kids" and "Alita: Battle Angel" director Robert Rodriguez, was supposed to start filming in April 2020, but the pandemic and insurance issues put a halt on production.

The movie was originally scheduled to begin filming in April 2020 but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic and then apparently from insurance issues, according to the outlet.’
