“Queen of the South” actor Alice Braga is set to star in the upcoming Netflix movie “Ivy.”. The story centers on a mother, who is recovering from a brutal accident and moves into a prototype smart home. As she begins to get settled, she finds out that the house’s groundbreaking AI technology is quickly developing real human emotions.
Production will start September 20, 2021 in Austin, Texas on Hypnotic, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Academy Award® winner Ben Affleck and Alice Braga (Queen of the South, City of God). The film was originally set to begin principal photography in April 2020 but was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Braga will star opposite Ben Affleck in the action flick that “will follow a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program while investigating a string of high-end crimes.”

Announced as far back as 2018, Hypnotic is a mind-bending action thriller about a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end crimes. The film is written by Rodriguez and Max Borenstein (Godzilla franchise, The Terror). Rodriguez, Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov and his colleagues Guy Danella & John Graham are producing with Solstice Studios.

Film productions were halted, schedules were postponed, and release dates were more like release suggestions as studios still try to figure out how to distribute a movie in a profitable way. And one of the many, many productions to get hit by the pandemic is “Hypnotic” from Robert Rodriguez. But more than a year after it was set to begin filming, it appears the thriller starring Ben Affleck is back on track, adding a new member to the cast and figuring out a filming date and location.

Queen of the South is back for its fifth and final season on USA, and it definitely isn't going to simply recover old ground after how Season 4 ended for Alice Braga's Teresa Mendoza. The fourth season aired its final episode all the way back in August 2019, making the return for Season 5 a long time coming, but likely also a little bittersweet for fans as it marks the beginning of the end of Teresa's story.
