Kings' Alex Turcotte: Loaned to taxi squad

Turcotte was reassigned to the taxi squad Friday. Turcotte was a healthy scratch for Thursday's loss to the Avalanche, but he had appeared in five straight games with the Kings prior to that contest, so he could be back on the active roster prior to Sunday's clash with the Devils. The 2019 first-round pick has gone scoreless through eight top-level appearances this year.

The Kings activated Turcotte from COVID-19 protocols and reassigned him to the practice squad Sunday, Lisa Dillman of The Athletic reports. The 20-year-old entered virus protocols Monday. LA Kings’ Alex Turcotte, Alex Iafallo placed in COVID protocol

As Zach notes, Kings head coach Todd McLellan doesn’t expect Durzi to miss much time. However, Turcotte and Iafallo are sure to miss at least Thursday’s game against the Nashville Predators and potentially Saturday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings, depending on when they went into isolation. If you recall, the league recently modified its COVID protocol policy, dropping the mandatory isolation period from 10 to five days. So if both players went into isolation today, the earliest they could return is for Monday’s game against the New York Rangers.

Kings' Alex Turcotte: Enters COVID-19 protocols

Turcotte was added to the Kings' COVID-19 protocols list Monday. Turcotte has played in three NHL contests this season and averaged 10:25 of ice time. The 20-year-old call-up will be required to submit two negative COVID-19 tests to regain playing eligibility, but this could spell the end of his current NHL stint if the Kings choose to send him back to the AHL.

It’s time to stop sheltering Alex Turcotte from the NHL

The LA Kings drafted Alex Turcotte fifth overall in 2019, but he’s the only member of the Top-10 from that class who has yet to make his debut. Alex Turcotte was drafted fifth overall by the LA Kings in 2019. He was coming off of a 62-point season with the U.S. National U18 team, and the hype for him was through the roof. On draft day, he was that play-making centerman who could play a solid two-way game and was the ideal top-five player in the draft class.
