Alex Lahey, from the moment she took the stage in Lakewood Wednesday night, appeared ready to perform for a large crowd. The Australian singer and guitarist had the swagger, personality, comedic timing and presence to command a room full of 2,000 concertgoers. She effortlessly led the crowd in a singalong of the wordless portion of closer “I Haven’t Been Taking Care of Myself,” extending the four-minute tune into something much more epic.

Watch Alex Lahey And Gordi’s At-Home Performance Of Their Tender Track, ‘Dino’s’

As collaborations become more and more commonplace in mainstream music, it’s not surprising to see the trend spread to indie music, too. Like Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen recently did, Alex Lahey and Gordi collaborated on a track called “Dino’s” earlier this year, and performed it on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as part of the show’s #PlayAtHome series. The song comes after Lahey’s most recent album, The Best Of Luck Club from 2019, and Gordi’s Our Two Skins from 2018, which explored identity and isolation.

I haven’t seen it yet, but pretty much everyone seems to like The Mitchells Vs. The Machines, Michael Rianda’s new animated comedy for Netflix about a family road trip derailed by a robot uprising. Mark Mothersbaugh composed the score, and the soundtrack also features songs by Los Campesinos!, Sigur Rós, Talking Heads, Grimes, Le Tigre, BTS, and Australian Artist To Watch Alex Lahey — who also wrote an original song, “On My Way,” specifically for the movie’s end credits sequence. Alex Lahey and Gordi have recorded a live session for Seattle’s KEXP radio station to promote their recent collaborative single ‘Dino’s’. The pair – who also happen to be a couple – recorded the session at Small Time Group in Melbourne in late February, kicking off with a stripped-back version of ‘Dino’s’.
