Cleveland roughs up Adam Plutko en route to 10-4 rout

Cleveland was supposed to face Baltimore starting pitcher John Means but ended up squaring off against a familiar face Saturday evening, tagging Adam Plutko for five runs in the third inning to build a big lead they’d never relinquish in a 10-4 rout of the Orioles. Means didn’t even make...

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Dealt second loss

Plutko (1-2) took the loss Monday versus Minnesota. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one in one inning. Plutko allowed the initial runner in the 10th inning to score on a wild pitch. It wouldn't have mattered ultimately -- Jorge Polanco took Plutko deep with two outs to provide just enough insurance for Minnesota to win. The right-hander gave up 13 runs (12 earned) across 12.1 innings in May. For the year, he's produced a 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB across 27.1 innings. He's collected five holds and taken two blown saves in 21 outings.

New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles: Jordan Montgomery vs. Adam Plutko

The Yankees have taken care of business this weekend in Baltimore, outscoring the Orioles 13-6 while taking the first two games of the series. We’re due for a sweep though, and today is as good a day as any to get it. Jordan Montgomery leads the charge, having lowered his...

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Starting Sunday against Yankees

Plutko will start for the Orioles against the Yankees on Sunday, Joe Trezza of reports. This will be Plutko's 16th appearance and first start for Baltimore after he was traded from Cleveland shortly before Opening Day. His home-run rate this season is well below his career mark (1.89 HR/9), and his 17.1 percent strikeout rate leaves a lot to be desired. Further, he's hasn't gone more than three innings in an appearance this season, so it's difficult to see him qualifying for the win.

Adam Plutko has been an amazing find

As a fan of a rebuilding team—man, I can’t wait for the day we can stop calling the Orioles that—you want to know that your front office can draft, develop, and sign talent. Can it?. At least judging by this Adley Rutschman fellow (the No. 2 prospect in MLB) and...

Adam Plutko falters, and the Orioles lose their sixth straight vs. the Red Sox

No reliever has been asked to keep more inherited runners from scoring than Baltimore Orioles right-hander Adam Plutko. He couldn’t complete that task Sunday. After rookie starter Dean Kremer allowed consecutive singles to open the sixth inning against the Boston Red Sox, Manager Brandon Hyde brought in Plutko to retain a one-run Baltimore lead. But a walk and a two-run double by Rafael Devers gave Boston a lead it didn’t relinquish in beating the Orioles, 4-3, at Camden Yards.

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Charged with blown save

Plutko allowed two inherited runners to score and allowed a hit and a walk in one inning to take a blown save Sunday versus Boston. He struck out one. Plutko can't be fully blamed for the blown save -- starter Dean Kremer allowed consecutive singles to begin the sixth inning before the call to the bullpen was made. Plutko allowed a two-run double to Rafael Devers, with the runs charged to Kremer. The 29-year-old Plutko has been solid this season with a 0.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across 19 innings. He's a versatile option for manager Brandon Hyde, but he's only picked up three holds while often working in lower-leverage situations.

Cleveland Indians player who should’ve been kept: Adam Plutko

At the rate the Cleveland Indians are going, twice every fifth day, the Tribe will fall behind five runs by the time the second inning ends. Logan Allen was demoted to the alternate site following another outing in which he was shelled, early. Now, Triston McKenzie is the latest pitcher who’s forgotten how two pitch. The former first-round pick couldn’t find the strike zone after a dominant first inning.

Adam Plutko has been a solid addition to O’s bullpen

Even though he once pitched in a college rotation at UCLA with both Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer, the Orioles could not have expected right-hander Adam Plutko to pitch this well for them. When they acquired him from Cleveland on March 27 for cash considerations, it was expected to be...

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Collects hold

Plutko pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout to earn a hold in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Athletics. Plutko relieved starter John Means with one out in the seventh inning. The 29-year-old Plutko has a 1.42 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 9:3 K:BB and three holds through 12.2 innings. He's also picked up a win while working mainly in the middle innings.

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Logs hold Tuesday

Plutko pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two to earn a hold in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins. Plutko entered the game in the sixth inning after Shawn Armstrong worked his way into a jam. The 29-year-old Plutko allowed two inherited runners to score, but he didn't allow any additional damage. He's pitched to a 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB across 11 innings so far, good for a 1-0 record and two holds in seven outings.

Orioles' Adam Plutko: Earns win in relief

Plutko (1-0) allowed one hit and struck out two over 2.1 innings to earn the win Saturday versus the Red Sox. Starter Matt Harvey couldn't quite complete five innings, so Plutko came in for a multi-inning assignment. The 29-year-old Plutko looked good in his Orioles debut, throwing 21 of his 33 pitches for strikes. The right-hander had a 4.88 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB across 10 appearances (four starts) spanning 27.2 innings with Cleveland last year. Plutko appears set to work in a similar long-relief role in 2021, so his fantasy value is likely to be limited. Should the Orioles need a spot starter or an opener, he could be a candidate in those situations as well.

Cleveland Indians trade RHP Adam Plutko to Baltimore Orioles for player to be named or cash

CLEVELAND -- The Indians traded right-hander Adam Plutko to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, a move that brings some clarity to their bullpen situation. Cleveland will get a player to be named or cash in return for Plutko, who was out of minor league options and seemed to be destined for a role in long relief this season. The 29-year-old has appeared in 50 games and made 36 starts for the Indians since 2016.
