Adult and Infant Drown on Fla. Beach, Good Samaritan Who Tried to Rescue Them Remains Missing

The search for an individual who attempted to save an adult male and toddler from drowning on a Florida beach continues. On Friday evening, deputies were sent to the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve after they received a call about a man and toddler who were swimming and taken away by a current, according to a statement from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Their identities have not yet been revealed.

Mother and son from prominent South Carolina family are found shot dead

A mother and her son — members of one of South Carolina’s most prominent families — were found shot to death on their property this week, police said. The bodies of Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and Paul Murdaugh, 22 — who was facing trial in the boating death of a teenage coed — were found Monday evening near a dog kennel at their home on Moselle Road in Islandton, a small town with only about 70 residents in central South Carolina, police said.
