Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Three points in OT loss

Ekblad scored a short-handed goal and added two even-strength assists in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Penguins. After picking up two helpers in a wild first period, Ekblad gave Florida a 4-3 lead midway through the second frame by finishing off a rush started by Matthew Tkachuk at the Panthers' blue line. Ekblad has three multi-point performances in the last 11 games, and he's put his December slump behind him with four goals and nine points over that stretch -- all four tallies (three power-play markers plus Tuesday's shortie) have come on special teams.

He is projected to be back alongside Gustav Forsling on Florida's top defense pair Monday against New York.

Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Could be available Monday

Ekblad (upper body) has not been ruled out for Monday's game versus the Rangers, David Dwork of Local 10 Miami reports. Ekblad didn't finish Saturday's game versus the Wild, but head coach Paul Maurice's comments after the contest suggest the injury isn't severe. For now, Ekblad can be considered day-to-day.

Ekblad suffered an upper-body injury during Saturday's game against Minnesota and is doubtful to return to the contest. Ekblad logged just 1:50 of ice time before exiting the game. He entered Saturday's action with seven goals and 20 points in 36 contests this season while averaging 24:00. If he can't play Monday against the Rangers, then Casey Fitzgerald might draw into the lineup for the first time since Dec. 19.

Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Two PP points Saturday

Ekblad scored a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canucks. Both points came as part of a three-goal eruption by Florida in just over eight minutes during the second period, as Ekblad blasted home a one-timer from the faceoff circle before starting the play that resulted in Aleksander Barkov's eventual game-winner. After a rough stretch that saw Ekblad find the scoresheet just once in 12 games in December and early January, the 26-year-old blueliner is heating up, collecting three goals and five points in the last five contests.

Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Dishes helper in loss

Ekblad notched an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights. Ekblad had been limited to just a two-goal effort Jan 6. versus the Red Wings over his last 10 games. The helper came on Nick Cousins' tally in the first period. Fantasy managers would probably want to see a bit more offense out of Ekblad -- he's at 17 points with a minus-18 rating through 32 contests. The 26-year-old has added 85 shots on net, 44 blocked shots, 38 PIM and 29 hits to supplement his lackluster scoring numbers.

Aaron Ekblad Keeps Up Detroit Domination with Florida Panthers

Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Snaps seven-game point drought

Ekblad netted a pair of power-play goals in Friday's 3-2 win against Detroit. Ekblad is up to six goals and 16 points in 29 contests in 2022-23. He entered the contest averaging 3:36 of ice time with the man advantage, and that role has been critical to his offensive production, given that 10 of his points have come on the power play. Ekblad's strong performance versus Detroit might help spark him after the 26-year-old was been held off the scoresheet in his previous seven games.

Panthers’ Aaron Ekblad Is a Shell of What He Once Was

The Florida Panthers have struggled mightily this season. With every game comes a new injury, and the season is slowly slipping away with every loss. The worst part? It’s not even 2023 yet. They have a 16-16-4 record and 36 points, which puts them below the final wild-card spot or for third in the division by seven points. It seems all hope was sucked from the team over the past three months.
