(OXFORD, MS) Depending on where you fill up in Oxford, you could be saving up to $0.23 per gallon on gas. On Saturday the cheapest gallon of unleaded regular in the area was at Murphy USA at 2528 Jackson Ave W. Regular there was listed at $2.72 per gallon Wednesday, compared to $2.95 at Shell at 192 Ms-30 E, which GasBuddy clocked as the most expensive station in the area.

Clayton family to file wrongful death lawsuit against city of Oxford

NEW ALBANY • The family of Dominique Clayton plans to file a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Oxford next week. Family attorney Carlos Moore announced the pending lawsuit on the steps of the Union County Courthouse, moments after former Oxford police officer Matthew Kinne pleaded guilty to capital murder in Clayton’s death. Moore sent the city a formal notice of intent shortly after Clayton was killed in May 2019.

Former Oxford police officer Matthew Kinne sentenced to life without parole

OXFORD • A former Oxford police officer avoided the death penalty but will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his girlfriend. Matthew Paul Kinne, 40, pleaded guilty to capital murder Friday afternoon in New Albany for the May 2019 killing of Dominique Clayton, 32. As part of the plea agreement between Kinne and prosecutors, Circuit Court Judge Kent Smith sentenced Kinne to life without the chance of parole.
