At the end of May, Imagination Library of Colorado received a funding award from the state’s Office of Early Childhood to increase access to age-appropriate books and promote kindergarten readiness by providing 12 free books mailed directly to 1,465 children in 13 targeted Colorado counties including all of Otero and Crowley Counties. Through this partnership, all children in these areas are eligible to enroll in the program from birth until their fifth birthday, with their first 12 books will be funded by this partnership. After the first year, a yet to be determined local county-based affiliate would pay just $1.15 per book per child enrolled in the program thanks to additional matching funds for the state.
