Bangor celebrates 30th anniversary of Pride

BANGOR, Maine — Saturday was a beautiful day in the queen city for the 30th anniversary of its Pride celebration. Bangor Pride kicked off at 11 a.m. with a parade throughout the streets of downtown. The parade was followed by live bands and musicians, drag performances, artists, vendors, and community resources, all gathered in the city's West Market Square.

Newburgh Standoff Ends With 1 Man Arrested on Domestic Charges

An incident in Newburgh ended peacefully and one man was arrested for allegedly discharging a weapon during a domestic dispute. It was around noon on Thursday when the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office received a report of a domestic assault incident at 108 Miles Road in Newburgh. A 911 operator at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center told deputies that a woman reported she had been assaulted and a firearm had been discharged during the incident. Deputies met with the woman at another location before making multiple attempts to contact the suspect, 51-year-old Lee Baker of Newburgh.

Maine concealed carry permits unaffected as Supreme Court strikes down recent gun laws

PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) - The U.S. Supreme Court in a 6-3 majority struck down a New York law that requires someone to state a special need to obtain a concealed carry permit. Maine has no such laws. The state is a permit-less carry state, which means anyone over the age of 21 and not prohibited from possessing a gun, can carry a loaded pistol or revolver and keep it in their vehicles.

Miller describes New York Giants OTA’s as a ‘surreal’ experience

ORONO – Last weekend, Old Town native and Maine football standout Andre Miller returned from OTA’s with the New York Giants- an experience he describes as “surreal.”. “It was crazy, it was surreal walking out into the facility and being a part of something so special with all the other guys,” Miller said. “Seeing guys that I watched play for years now, like Saquon [Barkley] and Daniel Jones. It didn’t seem real at first.”
