Help our community get a Costco for our ‘ever-growing population’

I agree that we need a Costco in Ocala, FL or much nearer than Wesley Chapel or Orlando. I have written Costco on several occasions and have never received a response. My husband and I have been Executive Members of Costco since 2005. It’s a shame that if we buy on-line, we are charged a delivery fee if we purchase only one item.

Lake Eola has invasive lizards

While attending the recent swan release at Lake Eola (read more about that HERE) we happened to spot some large-ish lizards hanging out by the Chinese pagoda and went in for a closer look. The critters turned out to be Agama Lizards, or “rainbow lizard,” which an invasive species of...

Searching for the Real Deal Fish & Chips

With English Food, particularly Fish & Chips, I recommend none other than The Friar Tuck at Cagan Crossings in the Four Corners area. The Friar Tuck first opened about four years ago in a smaller location at Cagan Crossings. They eventually outgrew it and moved to a larger space in the same community. It is a family-owned and operated restaurant that serves home-style English food. The Friar Tuck hosts various events on a monthly basis, has local entertainers, and a full bar.

Current faves: Orlando wedding, a great book and workouts

My week was good! I taught my usual four classes (two in-person and two virtual), worked, took Brady to his second swim lesson, and did all the regular things we do each week. This weekend, I’m subbing a class. And other than that, we’re keeping things low-key, because next weekend, we have another set of visitors staying with us for a few nights. Summer 2021 is a busy one and a good one so far. Alright, let’s get to the faves …

The Happiest Place On Earth is just that. Disneyland Resort in California, while not the biggest Disney Park by far, will always hold a special place in Disney fans’ hearts as being the world’s first Disney theme park. In fact, Disneyland recently celebrated its 66th birthday, and next up will be a big moment for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida when the iconic Disney Park marks its own 50th anniversary.

Burgeoning franchise Nick Filet seems like it’s running on empty | Review

We live in a city where folks will sit in their car for literal hours for a White Castle burger. When I visited recently, on the legendary burger joint’s opening day, one man in the drive-through line — bumper to bumper with die-hards — admitted it would be his slider maiden voyage. “I figure you gotta have it once,” he told me. Pennsylvania-based restaurant Nick Filet made a smaller splash on ...

One Date at a Time: WINE-ing Down After a Long Week

The end of the school year and the beginning of summer is always a crazy busy time for our family. This year, it was even more crazy as our youngest daughter graduated high school. While we enjoyed celebrating with her, what Hubby and I really longed for was just some downtime where we could relax and, well, unwind. Or should I say unWINE?
