Three Fatal Accidents Recently Around Oregon Coast, One in Surf and Two on the Road

A man from California died last Thursday, September 9, when he made an “innocent mistake,” according to a bystander. Steve Allen, of Walnut Creek, attempted to jump across a narrow gap in the Devils Churn on the Oregon Coast, as reported by the Oregon State Police. Witnesses reported the man lost his footing when attempting to leap across the churhn. Cougar Peak Fire Update 9/15/21

Lakeview Ore. – The Office of the Oregon State Fire Marshal Incident Management Team (OSFM) and task forces will be traveling back to their home agencies today. OSFM would like to thank all of the local agencies and firefighters for the hard work during the initial attack and the ongoing support during the incident. Undoubtedly, the quick and heroic actions of firefighters and local law enforcement saved many lives and protected many homes in the path of the Cougar Peak Fire. During the three deployments that brought OSFM to Lake County this year, the community has been welcoming and the Teams thank them for their hospitality. OSFM is grateful to Northwest Incident Management Team 8 for the partnership and ongoing efforts to continue to manage the fire.

FBI: Albany man arrested for threats against Oregon public official

The FBI has arrested an Albany man for allegedly threatening an Oregon public official regarding COVID-19 vaccines and other matters. David Scott Ryder, 64, was arrested on Wednesday morning on charges of interstate transmission of a threat and stalking, according to an FBI news release. The Albany Police Department assisted in taking Ryder into custody.

Dayton man cited for crash in construction zone on Interstate 84; no injuries

MEACHAM, Oregon — A man from Dayton was warned and cited for his involvement in a construction zone crash Tuesday, Sept. 14, according to Oregon State Police. According to a crash report from OSP, Dylan G. Wolcott, 22, was involved in the non-injury crash that resulted in Interstate 84 being blocked for a time in a construction zone about two miles east of Meacham.
