Onondaga County maintains “high” bond ratings from Moody’s, S&P

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Two ratings agencies have affirmed Onondaga County’s “high” bond rating. S&P Global Ratings assigned its ‘AA’ rating with a stable outlook to Onondaga County. In handing out the AA rating, S&P noted, “The rating is supported by the county’s strong management team that implemented timely budgetary measures at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic,” per a county news release.

Upstate doctor "extremely concerned" about Delta variant

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Here in Central New York, only the unvaccinated currently need to wear a mask indoors, but there are some troubling signs in the numbers. The COVID case rate remains low, but there are warning signs that we may be headed in the wrong direction. "I am really concerned about the fall and the winter," said Dr. Stephen Thomas, Director of the Global Health Institute at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Thomas says Onondaga County has seen a 50 to 70% spike in cases over the last two weeks. He is extremely concerned about the Delta variant which is more easily transmitted and deadlier.
