Bellevue man in critical condition, leg dismembered in Tuesday crash

A 28-year-old Bellevue man was critically injured and his leg dismembered in a crash Tuesday afternoon. Luis Hernandez was driving a motorcycle north on 42nd Street just before 1:30 p.m. when a 2006 GMC Yukon SUV turned onto 42nd from a business parking lot, striking Hernandez, according to an Omaha police spokesman.

Three Mills County suspects booked on drug charges

(Glenwood) -- Three Mills County suspects face drug charges following their arrests Tuesday. The Mills County Sheriff's Office reports 51-year-old Michael Grieger, 28-year-old Angel Bustillos Esparza, and 26-year-old Breanna Cheree Roberts, all of Kansas City, were arrested Tuesday night near the 28th mile marker on Interstate-29. Authorities say all three suspects have been charged with two counts Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Man killed in farm accident on property in eastern Nebraska

SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a man died in a tractor accident on private property in eastern Nebraska over the weekend. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Saturday afternoon on property just east of Springfield. Lt. Greg Monico tells the Omaha World-Herald that the 79-year-old victim had gone out to trim trees on his property.

Bellevue principal charged with DUI after crash that critically injures motorcyclist

A Bellevue elementary school principal is on paid leave after being charged with drunken driving in connection with a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist. Andrew C. Miller, 46, of Omaha, was arrested Friday night following a crash near 141st and Pacific Streets, according to Douglas County court records. Motorcyclist Bruce Blaydes, 58, of Omaha, was taken to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Omaha woman accused of attempted restaurant robbery arrested

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A 45-year-old woman was taken into custody without incident after reports of a restaurant robbery Tuesday morning. Shanell Stewart was arrested for attempted robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Officers say they found Stewart near Park Ave and Poppleton Ave after someone told police a woman walked in La Casita Restaurant “showed a knife and demanded money from the register,” according to the release.
