OREGON — On May 13 at approximately 5 p.m. deputies, Monroe Center Fire/EMS and Stillman Valley Fire/EMS responded to the intersection of East Illinois Route 72 and the Interstate 39 southbound off ramp for a two-vehicle accident. After investigation, it was determined that a red Jeep Patriot, driven by Meagan Prosise, 22, of Davis Junction, was traveling westbound on East Illinois Route 72. A silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Aurelio Mascorro-Arenas, 60, of Irving, Texas, was traveling southbound on the Interstate 39 southbound off ramp. The silver Chevrolet failed to stop at the posted stop sign, at which time the red Jeep struck the Chevrolet near the rear driver side wheel, causing major damage to both vehicles. Prosise was accompanied by a juvenile, who was transported to Saint Anthony's Hospital for minor injuries. Aurelio-Mascorro and passenger, Maria Mascorro-Pacheco, 19, of Irving, Texas, were both transported to Saint Anthony's Hospital for minor injuries. Aurelio-Mascorro was issued a citation for failure to stop at an intersection.
