On July 3, 2022, at approximately 7:25 am, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the 6100 Block of N. Grandview in reference to a two-vehicle collision. The investigation determined that a tan 2016 Honda Accord operated by Alyssa McDowell, 23, was traveling northbound on N. Grandview. Celeste Lopez, 19, was also a passenger in the Honda Accord. McDowell failed to maintain lane and struck a black 2007 GMC Sierra. The GMC Sierra was operated by Paulo Mercado, 24, traveling southbound.

The water supply disinfection method will change back to the usual method. The City of Odessa will return to the usual method of combined chlorine and ammonia (chloramines) to disinfect the water supply on Saturday July 2, 2022. The City has completed the use of free chlorine disinfection for the past month.

It is illegal to sell, possess or ignite fireworks inside the City limits. The Odessa Fire Marshal’s office would like to remind citizens it is illegal to sell, possess or explode fireworks in the City limits. Citations will be written to anyone found with fireworks inside the City limits.

As usual, lots of our furry friends are up for adoption at the Odessa Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at 910 W. 42nd. We always like to remind you to spay and neuter your pets.

"I wanted to be the police officer for others that I would want my family to have if they ever needed a police officer," said Corporal Dominguez. He joined OPD in 2013. Corporal Dominguez also wanted to impact our community in any positive he could, the way many other officers do on a daily basis.

TXDOT will begin a new project to rehabilitate and resurface U.S. Highway 385 in Odessa on July 6th. A project to rehabilitate and resurface a 2.3-mile segment of U.S. Highway 385 in Odessa is scheduled to begin the week of July 6. Work will stretch from Highway 191 (42nd Street) to Eighth Street.

The City offices will be closed on Monday, July 4th. There will be no trash pick up service on this day. City of Odessa offices will be closed Monday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
