No Injuries Reported When Vehicle Collided With Okoboji Business

Okoboji, IA (KICD)– An Okoboji business is picking up the pieces and working on repairs after a vehicle collided with a building late Saturday afternoon. Emergency crews were called to Tweeter’s Bar and Grill on Highway 71 a little after five o’clock where photos posted to social media show a minivan crashed into and entered the restaurant.

Authorities were called to Tweeters around 5:15 pm after getting a report of a vehicle that had collided with the south side of the building and actually entered the business.

Fire at Center Lake Mobile Home Park Saturday

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Spirit Lake Fire Chief Pat Daly says calls to mobile home parks seldom end well, but quick action and a little luck Saturday avoided major damage. The department was dispatched shortly after noon and found the occupant spraying a wood deck with a garden house. The fire department took over and put out the structure fire without it spreading into the main home or neighboring properties. Daly says smoke that did enter the home will probably prevent the occupants from staying there over night. Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour and a half.

Northwest Iowa woman & Her Newborn Die After Roll-Over Wreck

(Peterson, IA) — A northwest Iowa woman and her newborn child have died after a single-vehicle crash near Peterson. The accident happened early Tuesday evening on a county road three miles north of Peterson. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Courtney Engeltjes of Everly left the roadway, overcorrected and her S-U-V rolled over into a ditch. Engeltjes and her newborn daughter were both taken to Spencer Hospital and later air lifted to another hospital where they died from their injuries.

Man Accused of Fatally Shooting a Woman in a Milford Parking Lot Found Competent to Stand Trial

A man accused of shooting a woman in February of this year in the parking lot at GrapeTree Medical Staffing in Milford has been found competent to stand trial. Christian Goyne-Yarns was charged with 1st degree murder in the shooting of Shelby Woizeschke, who later died of her injuries. Goyne-Yarns was originally scheduled to go on trial back in August of this year, but that was canceled after the competency evaluation was granted. Online court records don’t list a new date for a trial.

Rollover crash on Interstate 90 injures one

A Sherburn woman was hospitalized following a one-vehicle rollover crash Thursday on Interstate 90. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country operated by Kirsten Kay Ringgenberg, 26, was eastbound on I-90 when it left the roadway, entered the median and rolled. The incident was reported at 7:05 a.m. Thursday from mile marker 62 in Rost Township, Jackson County.

Northwest, Iowa — Field fires have begun to spring up around northwest Iowa recently, and that has prompted Crawford County to join Plymouth, Cherokee, Sioux, and O’Brien in instituting a burn ban. A field fire in northwest Iowa this week caused more than half a million dollars in damage and area fire departments were dispatched to battle a blaze in a field being harvested.

Two People Facing Charges After Clay County Traffic Stop

(Dickens)--Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop this past Sunday on Highway 18 near Dickens. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 10 a.m., a deputy witnessed the driver and a front passenger switch places while waiting for the vehicle to pull over. The deputy made contact with the male in the passenger seat, identified as 27-year-old Chase Kounkel of LeMars. It was determined Kounkel had a barred driver’s license. He was charged with driving while barred, two counts of child endangerment, speeding, reckless driving, tint, no seatbelt, driving under suspension and failure to file S.R. Insurance. He was released after posting bond.
