Robinson Man Sentenced to Eleven Years on Meth Charges

(Robinson) – A Robinson man was sentenced to more than a decade behind bars during a court appearance last week. According to Crawford County State’s Attorney Cole Shaner, sixty-five-year-old Ronald Douglas of Robinson was sentenced to eleven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year and half of Mandatory Supervised Release on a Class X Felony charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Douglas was arrested last August as a result of a lengthy multi-agency investigation. The Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force assisted in the prosecution of this case.

Robinson Women Sentenced to a Decade Behind Bars

(Undated) – A Robinson woman has been sentenced to time in the IDOC on meth-related charges. According to Crawford County State’s Attorney, Cole Shaner, during a recent court appearance, thirty-four-year-old Stevie Manning was sentenced to a total of ten years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release. She was sentenced to four years on a Class 2 Felony charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver and another six years on a Class 1 Felony charge of Possessing Contraband in a Penal Institution. Both the Robinson Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the prosecution of these cases. Shaner says the sentences will run consecutively.

Authorities Investigating Found Possible Bomb Material

(Palestine) – An investigation continues into suspicious items found in a Palestine home during a search for a wanted individual. According to Palestine Police Chief, Jeff Besing, just after midnight on September 19th officers from the Palestine Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received permission from the owner of a residence in the 300 block of East Grand Prairie to search the residence for a male subject wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. Besing says during the search, officers found items that could be used to make explosive devices. The officers evacuated and secured the residence and notified the Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad. Technicians examined the items and determined that they were inert and posed no immediate threat. The items in question were removed and secured by Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputy, Troy Wolf, Palestine Officer, Jake McGinness, and Chief Jeff Besing. Also assisting were Palestine Officer, Jacob Baxter, and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputies, Shali Greathouse and Kyle Anderson.
