Head-on Crash on US-67 Northeast of Ballinger Claims the Life of 1 Driver

BALLINGER – One driver was killed in a two vehicle, head on crash five miles northeast of Ballinger on US-67 Wednesday at 7:20 p.m.. According to information released by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Marc Couch, a 2019 Dodge pickup driven by 73-year-old Richard Wayne Bruce of Weatherford was traveling west about five miles northeast of Ballinger on US-67 with his wife, 62-year-old Mary Trojacek Bruce as a passenger.   At the same time, 59-year-old Ben Baxter Ingham of Sonora was traveling east at the same spot driving a 2022 Dodge 3500 pickup towing a homemade semi-trailer.  …

2 People Killed, 3 Injured in 3 Vehicle Crash Near Winters Thursday

WINTERS – Two people died and three others were seriously injured in a three vehicle crash south of Winters on US-83 Thursday.   According to information from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Marc Couch, the crash involved a Volvo 18-wheeler, a 2009 Ford pickup and a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu passenger car.   According to the DPS investigation, the F-150 was northbound 4.5 miles south of Winters on US-83 while the 18-wheeler and the Malibu were heading south around 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the same location.   The Ford pickup was driven by 74-year-old Roland Presley of Winters.  His…

Ballinger -If you know Eloyed and Heather Fuentes, you know that their home population increased by two in late summer this year. They have welcomed two female, foreign exchange students for the school year. I recently had the opportunity to interview the family and have learned so much about the culture shocks, surprises, and a whole lot more.

2022 Ballinger Night Out block party

BALLINGER – Neighbors and Law Enforcement…that is what Ballinger Night out is all about! The Ballinger Police Department is hosting the annual community relations- building event at the police department on Oct 4 at 5:30 pm with free food, games, prizes and information. Held on the first Tuesday in October, the event is held to celebrate, and continue to build, a strong sense of community between all members of Ballinger, between her citizens and First Responders.

Hallow Fest 5 screaming toward Ballinger

That’s right! The 5th Annual Hallow Fest is on the way on Oct 29-31, starting at 6 pm at the Ballinger Community Center! One of the most attended events of the year, Hallow Fest is free and open to all. This event has been bringing wows, screams, and OMG! moments to participants for several years. True to form, every year, the theme is different and is usually kept secret until the night of Halloween. There are two parts to Hallow Fest: The Haunted House, which will be open from Oct 29-31 and the Kandy Korral Trunk or Treat only open on Halloween, Oct 31.

Runnels County teams fall in football

All three of our Runnels County teams fell in football last Friday. There wasn’t a lot to be said other than that our players played until the last second of each game. It wasn’t all bad news as the teams improved in some areas. Blizzards fall to Stamford 48-12 The Winters Blizzards (1-4, 0-1) fell on the road in their district opener against the Stamford Bulldogs by the score of 48-12.

Multiple killed in Tuesday afternoon crash near Winters

WINTERS, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a crash that killed multiple people Tuesday afternoon in Runnels county. According to a press release, Ronald Presley, 74, of Winters, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 83 in a 2009 Ford F150 pickup truck when he crossed the center stripe of U.S. Highway 83 striking two vehicles that were traveling south on U.S. Highway 83.

Ozona Lions get a Big Win over Miles Bulldogs

MILES – The Miles Bulldogs dropped one against Ozona when the Lions came to town in Week 5 of the high school football season. The Bulldogs were looking to start 5-0 when the Lions came to town last Friday night, but Ozona put up a great fight. After the first quarter, Miles led 14-6 and it would be the only time they had the lead as Ozona went on to put up 41 total points against Miles’ 26.
