Teach the youth about the importance of natural resources

In the past couple of months, the staff here at Noble Soil and Water Conservation District has been involved in a lot of events with youth in our community. From hunter education to ag school days and Envirothon and 4-H events, there have been limitless opportunities to talk with kids about natural resources and the role they can serve in conservation.

Caldwell Honored by EODA for Tourism

The Village of Caldwell was honored recently at the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance 32nd Annual Meeting, which took place in Walnut Creek, Ohio April 29. The Village, along with Mayor Misty Wells, received the EODA annual Tourism Excellence Award for their work on the “A Village Christmas to Remember” campaign, and for the new skating rink located in the village, both things recognized as being excellent tourism assets.

Horse captured along I-77 near Belle Valley

BELLE VALLEY, Ohio -Noble County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to I-77 north of Belle Valley in reference to a horse that was loose on the roadway Monday morning . Deputies, with the assistance of citizens were able to safely get the horse off the interstate and eventually loaded it into a trailer and moved it to a safe place.

Canton man jailed after high speed chase near Caldwell

CALDWELL, Ohio — A Canton man is in the Noble County Jail after a high speed chase near Caldwell last week. The Noble County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Tuesday stating that a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse had been stolen from Canton, Ohio and was being tracked exiting I-77 at exit 25, near Caldwell. Sheriff Jason Mackie and Deputies responded to the area. Sheriff Mackie reportedly observed the stolen 2020 Chevrolet Traverse at the intersection of State Route 78 & State Route 821. The driver turned south onto SR821. As Sheriff Mackie was behind the suspect vehicle several Deputies headed to his location. While following the suspect vehicle Sheriff Mackie confirmed the license plate the vehicle began to speed up to 75 miles per hour. The vehicle then slowed and pulled onto the shoulder just south of the State Library.

Noble County man faces Drug Charges following search of Home

CALDWELL, Ohio — A Caldwell man is facing drug charges following the search of a home in Noble County. Noble County Sheriff’s Detectives executed a narcotics related search warrant in Noble Township at a Wargo Road residence on Thursday. During the search, Sheriff’s Detectives reportedly located over one hundred grams of suspected methamphetamine, pills, scales, a firearm, and other drug related paraphernalia. While Detectives were executing the search warrant, Sgt. Dale Morris was able to locate the suspect of the investigation driving in the area and was able to apprehend him following a brief chase. The suspect was ultimately transported to the Noble County Jail.
