The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack has been a subject of controversy since it was first announced. After months of rumors that the Nintendo 64 was coming to the online service, Nintendo finally revealed the console, along with a small selection of games. Shortly after that, Nintendo shared that the service would be exclusive to a higher paid tier, resulting in Nintendo's most disliked announcement on YouTube. Now, fans have had to deal with a slow release schedule, with Nintendo dropping one new game for the service every month. This crawling cadence has made Nintendo Switch owners try and savor the monthly Nintendo 64 titles, but the latest one has made it hard to do that.

New Nintendo Switch Patent Hints at Stricter Anti-Cheat Measures

Cheating in online games has become a very big problem lately, and it seems Nintendo is taking proactive measures ahead of the release of Mario Strikers: Battle League and Splatoon 3. On May 19th, the company filed for a new patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a program that auto-generates attestation programs to check to see if the software has been compromised or modified in any way by the user. According to Nintendo's filing, the technology would make it much more difficult for cheat software to go undetected.

Nintendo is releasing a real-life Animal Crossing: New Horizons critterpedia that’s meant to educate children about the real-world creatures found in the game. As reported by VGC, an Animal Crossing: New Horizons-inspired encyclopedia is due to be released by Nintendo in July of this year. The physical book will be accompanied by a 57-minute long DVD that will feature info on all of the real-life creature counterparts found in the game - that's a total of 235 animals if you weren't sure.
