Fourth St. N., in Newton. Visitors are encouraged to RSVP.
Everyone within earshot of downtown Newton knows when it is Thunder Nites. The revving engines are a dead giveaway, and so are the crowds. Anyone who has driven past First Avenue on the second Friday of every month since June knows just how many people flocked to the local motorcycle rally.

It’s about the time on the schedule when things get busy again. There’s been quite a bit of a break for me lately. That’s helped me spend more time with family. But in a few weeks, the events start up again and my wife and daughter will be back in school before we know it.
Scott Pierce thought he had served his final school year as an athletic director. But an opportunity at Baxter High School turned out to be too good to turn down. “I was pretty adamant about getting out of the AD world. But once I saw this come open, they worked with me on giving me some other things that I enjoy, too,” Pierce said. “I love it so far. I feel valued and trusted already. I think I’m going to really enjoy it here.”
Free meals will no longer be provided to every student in every building of the Newton Community School District this upcoming school year, which has prompted staff to encourage Cardinal families to fill out applications that determine whether their children may be eligible for reduced lunch and breakfast.
