Buffalo National River announces safety closure of affected area during Highway 7 bridge demolition

The the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will demolish the old State Highway 7 bridge at Pruitt in Newton County on Wednesday. Demolition will affect vehicle traffic on State Highway 7 and visitor access to this area of Buffalo National River. For the safety of all visitors during the demolition, Buffalo National River will enforce a temporary closure of a safety perimeter around the demolition site. This temporary closure will include the Buffalo River from Ozark to below the Lower Pruitt river access.

Buffalo National River Announces Safety Closure

Northwest Arkansas – On Wednesday, June 9th, 2021, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will demolish the old Highway 7 bridge at Pruitt in Newton County. This demolition will affect vehicle traffic on Highway 7 and visitor access to this area of Buffalo National River. For the safety of all visitors during the demolition, Buffalo National River will enforce a temporary closure of a safety perimeter around the demolition site. This temporary closure will include the Buffalo River from Ozark to below the Lower Pruitt river access. This closure is a coordinated effort between the National Park Service, ARDOT, the Newton County Sherriff’s Department, and the Arkansas State Police.

The Friends of the Newton County Library will meet at noon, Monday, June 14, at the Mt. Sherman Community Building. Reminder, the Wheelbarrow drawing is June 17 at 4 p.m. Prizes include a wheelbarrow filled with gardening supplies, donated by Tanner’s Do-It-Best Hardware in Jasper. Senior center providing meals

The Newton County Senior Activity and Wellness Center in Jasper continues its curbside pickup from 11:30 to noon, Monday through Friday, announced center director Nickie Henderson. She asks payment be made by check org exact change. Seniors 60 and older eat free though a $3 donation is appreciated. All others pay $6.60 which includes tax. All Meals include 8 ounces of 2% milk.
