Reward offered for info after string of armed robberies at Portland convenience stores

PORTLAND, Ore. — A cash reward is being offered for information after a string of armed robberies in Portland has gone unsolved. The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public's help to solve the cases, saying that multiple convenience stores in North and Northeast Portland have been robbed over the past few months. On each occasion, the suspects have a firearm, they target cash and tobacco products, and then run from the scene on foot after the robbery, according to police.

Mel Brown's family moved to Portland, Ore. from Arkansas in the early 1940s. He was born in 1944 — the last of six siblings and the only native Oregonian.
