New business robbed at gunpoint Friday evening

POUGHKEEPSIE – A new smoke shop on Main Street in Poughkeepsie was robbed at gunpoint Friday around 5:30 p.m. Police are searching for the suspects. The initial report by the clerk at the business indicated that two black men entered the business and displayed a handgun. Police officials were unable to say if the subjects left the premises with any stolen money or property.

You can seriously find some weird things while travelling in the woods around here. Not even a year ago a hiker almost broke the internet when he found a downed airplane in the woods in Poughkeepsie and posted a picture that quickly went viral. Good news for Hudson Valley Restaurant goers, the original owners have returned to La Stazione Restaurant at 5 Main Street in New Paltz. The news broke last week on various local Facebook groups that the original owner Rocco has returned to re-open La Stazione Restaurant in New Paltz. In these days of hearing about so many of our favorite Hudson Valley eateries closing it is wonderful to hear about one opening and going back to its popular roots.

A Carl's Jr. restaurant that has sat empty for over three years is finally set to reopen, but not as a burger joint. 2018 saw the end of Carl's Jr. in the Hudson Valley. After rebranding itself from Hardee's throughout the Hudson Valley, the popular burger chain quietly started closing all of their locations. In April of 2018, the Carl's Jr. in Kingston closed their doors to customers and then a month later the location on Route 211 in Middletown followed suit. In June of that year, the Hudson Valley's final Carl's Jr. on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie was shuttered,

New McDonald’s Coming to Vacant Route 9 Bank in Poughkeepsie

Does Route 9 need another McDonald's? The restaurant chain thinks so and is planning on building one at the site of a former bank. The Hudson Valley loves its fast food. You can't drive more than a mile in most areas without hitting either a Taco Bell, Burger King, Wendy's or McDonald's. On Route 9 alone there are dozens of fast-food eateries located between Beacon and Poughkeepsie, and now it looks like there will soon be one more.
