Iconic Local Restaurant Owner Passes Away at Age 89

The Hudson Valley is known for being home to many wonderful restaurants, but there are a few that tend to stand out above the rest. If you're a true 'Hudson Valley-er' chances are you've visited the Eveready Diner in Hyde Park, or at least know of it because of it's appearance on the Food Network show Diners Drive Ins and Dives.

Iconic Woodstock Restaurant Leaving After More Than 4 Decades

I was relaxing and watching a little television last night, and on the other side of the room my boyfriend was looking at facebook. All of a sudden, I heard him gasp out loud. He’s not really a gasper, so I knew he saw something that he thought was a big deal. I asked what was going on and he said that The Little Bear Restaurant in Kingston was closing, or at least relocating. I gasped too.

A Open Letter to a Hudson Valley Restaurant that I Used to Love

Dear Hudson Valley Restaurant that I Used to Love,. Wow, you really let me down. I just paid $22 for 2 overcooked pieces of shrimp (not jumbo, either) and a scrap of overcooked lobster no bigger than my pinkie finger. Oh, that wasn’t the description on the menu. The menu said shrimp and lobster with garlic, butter and herbs on toasted bread. Sounds delicious. It was horrible. And overpriced considering it was literally 2 pieces of shrimp and barely any lobster at all. On very soggy bread. I didn’t complain and I didn’t send it back, but I should have. It’s just that it was busy and I didn’t want to make a scene or wait any longer than I already had.
