A Kentucky man was hurt when his 18-wheeler ran off I-55 in New Madrid County and struck a ditch. The MSHP reports 60 year old Wayne Labral of Crofton was seriously injured and taken to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. The accident happened just after 5 p.m. yesterday.

Florida man arrested in New Madrid County

A Florida man was arrested in New Madrid County on Wednesday night for traffic violations. 32-year-old Steven Ehrhardt was charged with exceeding the posted speed limit, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to use their turn signal. He was driving 104 mph in a 55 mph zone. He was booked in the Mississippi County Jail.

Jackson man arrested for alleged drugs

A Jackson man was taken into custody in New Madrid County, Missouri, for alleged possession of a controlled substance. A Missouri State Highway Patrol report said Timothy Kilhafner, 40, was arrested at about 11 a.m. Monday for alleged possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seat belt. Troopers also had a warrant for his arrest from Bollinger County, Missouri, for failure to appear on a charge of non-support of a child.

Four Hurt in One Vehicle Traffic Accident near Tallapoosa

A tire blowout caused a vehicle to run off the road and strike a ditch, injuring four people on MO 153 south of Tallapoosa in New Madrid County yesterday afternoon. According to the MSHP, the driver, 21 year old Tylor Deprow was hurt as were three passengers, 19 year old Bethenie Birchfield, 20 year old Caleb Wyman, and a one year old boy — all of Tallapoosa. Search conducted for missing man in Portageville area

Personnel from multiple area agencies participated in a search Wednesday for man who has been missing since November. The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department reports that 33-year-old Butch Swofford was last seen on November 25th, 2020. The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, along with personnel from Sikeston, Cape Girardeau, and Jackson, conducted a search in the Portageville area, but were unable to locate him. Swofford is described as a white male, around 5’8” tall, weighing 155 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. Anyone who has information on Swofford’s disappearance is asked to contact Sergeant Johnson at 573-748-2516.
