Man sentenced to total of 42 year for manslaughter, other charges in New Madrid County

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A man was sentenced to a total of 42 behind bars for voluntary manslaughter and other charges. New Madrid County Circuit Court Division 1 Judge W. Reeves sentenced Jeremy Guest to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for voluntary manslaughter, 20 years for armed criminal action, seven years for stealing. Those sentences are to run consecutively of each other. Guest was also sentenced to four years for unlawful use of a weapon to run concurrently for a total of 42 years.

Matthews Teen Seriously Hurt in Weekend Crash

A New Madrid County teenager was seriously hurt just after midnight Saturday when the pickup she was driving ran off CR 843 north of Matthews and struck a silo. The MSHP reports the 17 year old girl from Matthews was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Emergency responders help locate missing woman

The Standard Democrat reports that a missing elderly woman was located with the assistance of local emergency responders. New Madrid County Sheriff Bud Cooper reported that his department received a 911 call Saturday morning about a missing 90-year-old Parma woman. After deputies arrived, they requested assistance from the Parma and Lilbourn Fire Departments, the New Madrid County Emergency Management Agency and the SEMO Regional K9 Search Team in helping locate the woman. Around 6:20 a.m. Saturday, the woman was located several blocks from her residence. She suffered no injuries and no medical attention was required. Cooper offered his thanks to those who assisted in quickly locating the woman.

Bridge Replacement Scheduled for Portageville Area

SIKESTON—Route 162 in New Madrid County will be closed as contractor crews replace the bridge over drainage ditch 62. This section of roadway is located between Route B and County Road 361 near Portageville. Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Aug. 8 with completion anticipated Sunday, Sept. 25.

Three Hurt in New Madrid County Traffic Crash.

Three people were hurt when the car they were in was pulled into the path of another vehicle on US 162 at Route TT east of Portageville. The MSHP reports the driver, 27 year old Jameka Smith of New Madrid was seriously hurt and taken to a Memphis hospital. Two passengers – 23 year old Alvin Johnson of Caruthersville and a six year old boy – received minor injuries and were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

MSHP Makes Two Arrests in New Madrid County

The MSHP arrested two people late Saturday night in New Madrid County. 46 year old Adam Gadberry of Canalou was arrested on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a probation/parole warrant. He was taken to the Mississippi County Jail and is held with no bond.

One Vehicle Accident Leaves Sikeston Man Hurt

A Sikeston man was hurt late Friday afternoon when his pickup ran off US 61 south of Sikeston in New Madrid County and struck a ditch. According to the MSHP, 33 year old Thomas Gulledge was taken to Missouri Delta Hospital with minor injuries.
