Yale Film Archive opens in Sterling Memorial Library

On Sept. 1, Yale Film Archive opened in a newly renovated space on the seventh floor of Sterling Memorial Library. The archive, formerly known as the Yale Film Study Center, was originally located in the lower level of the Whitney Humanities Center. Renovations for the archive’s new space began in spring 2020, and the equipment move-in process concluded this summer. Now called the Yale Film Archive, it serves the same function of promoting Yale’s vibrant film culture — through film collection, preservation and provision of public access — with advanced facilities.

RI Philharmonic Music School's fall enrollment in full swing

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School’s fall 2021 enrollment period is underway for lessons, classes, and ensembles open to students of all ages and ability levels. “Music School students are thriving thanks to our lessons, classes and ensembles, now available again in-person,” says Senior Director of Education Annette Mozzoni. “Now is the perfect time to start with the best faculty in Rhode Island. We make it easy and enjoyable to start learning, to keep developing new abilities over time, and to enhance our students’ love for music in new ways.”

The artists who will perform Sunday in New London's Hygienic Art Park will all tell you the gig that day is special and it's an honor to be part of it. They're donating their melodies to a benefit for the Daddy Jack Chaplin Foundation, an organization dedicated to scholarships to cooking school for would-be culinary students. Sadly, since Chaplin passed earlier this year, he's no longer available to continue his beloved role as a chef, a mentor, a benefactor and lover of the arts, and a committed activist on behalf of New London.

Armory awarded grant money to recoup losses from COVID closures
