Road extension could clear the way for major Shelton development

SHELTON — The city’s plans for improvements to Cots Street and Blacks Hill Road could open the door to a project that’s been on the drawing board for decades. The Planning and Zoning Commission, at its meeting last week, offered a positive 8-24 referral for regrading and other improvements to Cots Street and Blacks Hill Road. The decision clears the way for the extension of Constitution Boulevard North to Cots Street.

Strut-Destroying Waterbury Street Closed for Three Weeks

I recently took a ride on East Main Street in downtown Waterbury. My God. The trip from the Waterbury Police Station to the Waterbury Green, 3 blocks? Took me about 5 minutes. Granted, it was a busy Saturday morning and there were the usual pedestrians weaving through the slow crawling cars, but the road itself was in such bad shape going Westbound from the Police Station, past the Palace Theater and Waterbury UConn, that you had to bounce across the brick/gravel/temp patch/concrete patch slowly, or risk blowing your strut or shock out on one of the divots.

We’ve all ridden buses before. Motorcoach buses are commonly used for intercity travel, school field trips, group tours, military transport and more. But last year, the pandemic changed everything. The once thriving $15 billion bus industry was essentially shut down. Now it’s up to Congress to save this industry that millions of everyday Americans rely on for travel, and for their jobs.
