New Italian restaurant Villa Lulu opens on College Street

New Haven’s newest Italian offering opened last week in downtown. Villa Lulu, the product of seasoned restaurateur Moe Gad, opened on Wednesday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside of the restaurant’s location at 230 College St. The modern Italian eatery, which boasts a diverse menu of pastas, salads and classic Italian entrees, is Gad’s second restaurant on College Street and his third in the Elm City.

Pulled Pickle Pizza, anyone? This CT spot is doing it

CLINTON — Perhaps pizza traditionalists will revolt at a Pulled Pickle Pizza, a combination of pulled pork and dill pickle resting on Monterey Jack and cheddar, and dressed in BBQ sauce. Or the Lemon Boy, which has sliced lemon and smoked mozzarella mingling with olive oil and garlic, spiced with Aleppo Pepper and drizzled with honey.

Greek Bites prepares to open new eatery in Mastic

Greek Bites Grill & Cafe — already a big time foodie favorite in Moriches — is getting set to open a new eatery on Montauk Highway in Mastic. Greek Bites’ owner has filed for a change of zoning at 1443 Montauk Highway with Brookhaven Town, in order build a sit down restaurant, Deputy Town Supervisor Dan Panico announced today via his Facebook account. The address was formerly home to the Manor House eatery, which was destroyed by a fire in 2017.

Sept. 18 is National Cheeseburger Day, and what better place to celebrate than Connecticut, the birthplace of the food?.
