OXFORD, Maine — Severe storms moved through Maine Wednesday afternoon and evening, causing damage and thousands of power outages. “We heard the crunch and looked out and saw branches going by the windows,” said Waterford resident Stephen Knight, while taking stock of the damage to the property along Route 37 he shares with family.

CMP crews respond to thousands of outages after storm

PORTLAND (WGME) – Strong winds and heavy rain were the perfect combination to bring down trees and limbs onto power lines. At the peak Wednesday, CMP reported more than 9,000 outages, mostly in Androscoggin, Cumberland and Oxford Counties. CMP says it had line and tree crews ready to respond.
