2 men charged in Suffolk County store burglary spree

NEW YORK -- A Long Island man charged in a crime spree across Suffolk County appeared before a judge on Wednesday.Police say small shops from Bay Shore to Islip, West Islip, Oakdale, Bohemia and Lindenhust were targeted since late May, some multiple times.In all, there have been at least 14 burglaries.Surveillance video captured the alleged serial burglar throwing a rock through the glass door at Bang Bang Burritos in West Islip and then ripping out cash resisters.Moments later, a neighboring ice cream shop was struck.Robert Porter, 55, of Kings Park is charged with 14 counts of burglary."We are here all day long, and we work hard for what we have and for someone to just come in here and take what they want, I'm glad, I'm honestly glad, he got caught," burglary victim Barbara Pagliarulo said."You couple that with supply chain issues that exist and prices of everything are going up, the merchants are trying to hold the line on prices. It's just very unfortunate this is where we are right now," said Rich Carpenter, president of the West Islip Chamber of Commerce.An alleged accomplice, 56-year-old Eric Hyndman, who is homeless, is charged in four of the burglaries.

NEW YORK - The search is on for a missing 11-year-old girl from the Bronx. Hadassah Critelli was last seen around 6:30 p.m. Monday. She was on Grand Concourse near Mt. Bronx dad accidentally hits his 3 kids, a trio of others with car

A Bronx dad accidentally reversed his car and hit his three kids and a trio of adults Tuesday, cops said. All of the victims suffered minor injuries, but they were treated at the hospital, police said. The man driving the car accidentally reversed instead of hitting the brake at East 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue around the Woodstock section about 12:20 p.m., crashing into a building and the victims, cops said. The driver was the father of the three children he struck, a police source said. The children were all taken to Harlem Hospital, and the adults went to Lincoln Hospital, cops said. “It was literally an accident,” a police spokeswoman said.

Man sentenced to 8.5 years in Maine killing

BANGOR, Maine — A New York man will spend eight and a half years behind bars for killing another man in Bangor in 2020. Khalid Harris, 29, of the Bronx, pleaded guilty on Monday to manslaughter in the shooting death of 28-year-old Syies Adams, also of New York. Harris had been charged with murder and admitted that prosecutors could prove he killed Adams.

Attempted murder suspect flees from NYPD station house in the Bronx

An attempted-murder suspect leisurely jogged through a Bronx NYPD station house Monday during his caught-on-video escape, according to cops and police sources.  The 23-year-old suspect – identified by police sources as Edurado Lacen – pushed a detective who had been processing him at the 40th Precinct station house on Alexander Avenue near East 138th Street in Mott Haven around 1:30 p.m., then fled, authorities said.  Footage obtained by The Post shows him trotting out of the precinct uncuffed, with a detective at the same sauntering pace trailing behind him. Lacen, who is shown wearing red sweatpants, a black T-shirt and white sneakers, was last seen heading north on Morris Avenue from 140th Street.  The suspect — who was initially cuffed in connection to a non-fatal shooting – was still on the loose Tuesday morning, cops said.
