The Village of Tewa Board of Directors, the governing body for the Village of Tewa, has filed a lawsuit in Hopi Tribal Court against the individuals responsible for an insurrection that took place at the Village of Tewa administration building on September 28, 2021.

The following criminal cases were heard in Navajo County Superior Court recently. Jason Bernard pleaded no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation for 12 months. As a condition of his probation, he must first serve eight days in the Navajo County Jail, with credit for eight days served. He was sentenced by Judge Dale Nielson.

The Navajo County Board of Supervisors met last week and approved the receipt of National Forest Funds in the amount of $907,510 for the benefit of public schools and public roads. The allocation provides $25,000 to public roads, $832,093 to public schools and $50,417 to the Emergency Management Firewise program. These funds come from National Forest fees collected over the fiscal year. The schools receiving the distribution of forest fees monies include Snowflake, Heber/Overgaard, Show Low and Blue Ridge school districts.

HOLBROOK, Ariz. — On April 27, a Navajo County deputy conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 at milepost 293, just east of Holbrook, for a civil traffic violation. After consent was given to search the vehicle, Deputies located 14 pounds of cocaine and two pounds of methamphetamine. The estimated street value is over $670,000.00.

He was sentenced to three years in the Arizona Department of Corrections (DOC), to be followed by a term of community supervision equal to one day for every six days served.
