On Friday, July 23, at around 1 a.m., officers responded to the area of Willett Street and Hudson Avenue for reports of shots fired. ALBANY, N.Y . (WSYR-TV) – Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation on Thursday raising the age of consent to be married in New York State to 18. The new measure builds on legislation eliminating child marriage that the governor signed in 2017 by removing the ability for 17-year-olds to be married with parental and judicial consent.

Bear cub gets trapped in upstate NY food bucket

State Environmental Conservation officers recently helped free a bear cub with a plastic chicken feeder stuck on its head in Greene County. The incident, perhaps reminiscent of a Winnie the Pooh conundrum, started July 1 when a conservation officer received a call from a resident about a black bear cub with what appeared to be a bucket stuck on its head in the hamlet of Round Top.

Berkshire County, and many areas for that matter, has become the 'Summer of Bear.' We have seen and shared a plethora of bear related videos that Berkshire County residents have posted and shared in local Facebook groups. Most of the time, the videos show bears roaming around or walking across a road. However, in some cases, you'll see a group of bears (usually a mama with one or two cubs) make their way to a porch or deck. So far, we haven't seen any videos of bears actually getting into a home.
