NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says a chase led to the seizure of 18 kilos of meth last Thursday. In a release, The sheriff’s office says that members of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Team tried to stop a car on Highway 64 and Winstead Avenue in Rocky Mount for a minor traffic violation, and the car initially stopped, which gave deputies enough time to identify the the driver, Yovany Barrientos-Ochoa, and the front seat passenger Jesus Rocha-Cabrera.

According to the audit by the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor, former Nash County Public Schools Superintendent Shelton Jefferies violated his contract and the system's spending policies, resulting in $45,690 in unauthorized and questionable expenses.

State Auditor Beth Wood released an audit report Tuesday about improper financial dealings by Shelton Jefferies, a former superintendent of Nash County Public Schools. “The results of our investigation found that the former superintendent of Nash County Public Schools violated his contract and multiple policies and procedures related to his procurement card and use of a school system vehicle. These violations resulted in $45,690 in unallowed and questionable expenses,” Wood said in her summary of the report.

William Thomas "Biscoe" Inscoe, Jr.

William Thomas "Biscoe" Inscoe, Jr., age 66, passed away on June, June 12, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on September 21, 1954, he was the son of the late William Thomas Inscoe, Sr. and Mary Ann Smith Inscoe. Biscoe both lived and loved life to the fullest, never holding back. A true "Bro", he surfed all across the globe for over 50 years and with his encouraging personality, Biscoe created many memories with friends both old and new. He was a man of many talents as he could play a mean guitar, draw from memory alone, or tune and restore an old car to glory just to name a few. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, spending time at the beach as he was an avid outdoorsman, or simply swapping stories with old friends as he was a brother to many. Biscoe will be forever loved and missed by all of those who knew him. Biscoe is survived by his wife of 25 years, Tonya Weaver; his brother, Frank Inscoe and wife Linda; his niece, Mary Griffin Inscoe; his nephews, Frank Parker Inscoe and William Taylor Inscoe; and his dog, Scruffy.
