A Joliet tradition returns to the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park this weekend with the 46th running of the play "Festival of the Gnomes" on Saturday, December 3rd and on Sunday, December 4th. In the play, you will see what the gnomes do around Christmastime.

The teenager was enjoying a party with her friends in room 926. The party was set to start at 11:30 pm that night. When one of Kenneka’s friends got to the party, they found her in an intoxicated state of being. She was reportedly swaying back and forth as she went to give them a hug. According to witnesses at the party, she had been drinking a lot of cognacs. However, her friends say that she was still acting out of the ordinary. She would shift moods between wanting to dance and be part of the group and being sad and wanting to isolate herself.

Woodstock Institute backs bill that would close the pawn shop loan loophole. Consumer advocates at the Woodstock Institute in Chicago are backing a legislative effort to close what they say is a loophole in current small dollar lending laws in Illinois. While the state's Predatory Lending Prevention Act (PLPA) caps most short-term, small dollar loans at an interest rate of 36%, certain loans offered by pawn brokers are exempt from this cap.
