MCLS announces Upgrade to Digital Library Service, Hoopla

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Muskingum County Library System is happy to announce an upgrade in one of its digital library services, Hoopla. The upgrade started on June 16 but it takes about a week for the full app roll-out to reach all mobile and tablet users. Former Area Principal Pleads Guilty

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says a former Maysville High School principal pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges in connection with an investigation involving a woman. 49-year-old Hank Jackoby entered the pleas Wednesday before Common Please Judge Kelly Cottrill, to one count of Tampering with Evidence, one count of Unlawful Restraint, and to a Prosecutor’s Bill of Information of Unlawful Restraint.

Additional details released regarding Muskingum River Drowning

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Additional details have been released, regarding a12-year-old boy who drowned in the Muskingum River on Saturday. According to Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz, 12-year-old Ty Zgonc was with his mother Denise Gleba when he drowned around 8:00 p.m. near Dresden. A search ensued, and he was found Sunday between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. in the area that he was last seen. The search was called off Saturday night due to darkness and resumed Sunday, when the boy was located. Lutz said Zgonc wasn’t believed to be wearing a life jacket. The boy and mother were from Elyria, Ohio visiting the area.

Commissioners Receive Update on State Grant Application to Build New Jail

The Muskingum County Commissioner’s Office met today to discuss the status of a state grant application that could potentially help fund a new jail. The county is applying for funding through Ohio Senate Bill 310 which was introduced back in March, The due date for the application is June 30th. There are many different aspects of the application that need to be decided on before it can be submitted.

West Muskingum High School Debuts New Mural In Gymnasium

The West Muskingum High School has a brand new mural on its gymnasium wall. The artist, who goes by the name of the Barn Artist, was referred for the job by another member in the community. Wyer Sentenced to Community Control

A Philo woman was sentenced in Common Pleas Court in Muskingum County for stealing money from a doctor’s office in Zanesville. Judge Mark Fleegle sentenced 49-year-old Trisha Wyer to two year of community control which includes 50 hours of public service and 60 days of house arrest. In addition she must pay $12,000 in restitution with an alternate prison sentence of 14 months.
