Named after the Commonwealth’s state flower, the Goldrenrod Cafe serves elevated southern food in a modern setting. It was my first time visiting, as the restaurant opened less than a year ago. To understate: it will not be my last.

Robert Earl Barber, 82, of Paris, Tennessee, died at his residence Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper at Ft. Bragg. He was awarded the soldier’s medal for bravery while stationed in Japan 1963-1966. After his military service, Robert spent many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was a charter member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris.

Wall and Stokes take wins at Calvert City Country Club

Calvert City Country Club hosted a Kentucky Junior Golf/PGA Kentucky Junior Tour event June 21-22. Marshall County High School golf team member, Trey Wall, won the Boys 16-18 divison. Wall finished the two-day tournament at 2-under par (71-71/142). Ryan Stokes, also a member of the MCHS squad took the win in the Boys 13-15 division carding a 4-under par (70-70/140).
