Murray's Concerts in the Park series starts Saturday

Murray Arts Council kicks off its 2021 Concerts in the Park series on Saturday at 7 p.m. with performances by Pony Bradshaw and The Stringy Blues Band. The concert series, sponsored by a grant from Mohawk Industries, is free to the public. Bring a chair or blanket, a sun shade and your favorite folks and come to Chatsworth City Park. The park is at 444 Second Ave. behind Chatsworth City Hall and includes public restrooms in the back. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase.

Murray County woman arrested after K-9 deputy finds drugs

Assistance from a certified narcotics detection K-9 deputy named Ivo has landed a woman in the Forsyth County Jail on drug trafficking charges. Misty Twilight Slaton, 28, of Chatsworth, was arrested “in the early morning hours” of Tuesday, June 1 and is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, three counts of manufacture/deliver/distribute a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain proper insurance and improper turn, according to a post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Teenager charged with DUI and vehicular homicide in connection with Wednesday morning crash in Murray County

According to Murray County Jail records, Whitney Danielle Thomas, 17, of Chatsworth, was also charged Wednesday by the Georgia State Patrol with furnishing/purchasing of alcoholic beverages by persons below legal age, improper lane change/failure to maintain lane, driving without insurance seat belts violation, first-degree vehicular homicide, and DUI (less safe). According to the Georgia State Patrol public information office said preliminary information, At 5:27 a.m. Georgia State Patrol Post 43 Calhoun was asked to investigate a single-vehicle crash on Mill Creek Road. A white 2011 Ford F-150 (4-door) was traveling west on Mill Creek Road, negotiating a left curve. The Ford F-150 exited onto the north shoulder and struck several trees with its passenger side. The right rear passenger, Ms. Emmerie Grace Kilpatrick, 19, (of Chatsworth), suffered fatal injuries. Alcohol was involved in this crash, and seat belts were not in use.” The crash report is not complete at this time and the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.
