Four juveniles from the Rockford area were arrested after a police chase in Kane County Monday. The Kane County Sheriff's Office says Campton Hills Police were called for a report of a motor vehicle burglary in the 40W400 of Carl Sandburg Road. Police were given a description of the suspect vehicle by the victim.

Former Illinois Youth Center Employee Sentenced to Probation For Having Sexual Contact with Resident

A former employee of the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles has been sentenced to thirty months of probation for having sexual contact with an eighteen-year-old inmate. 33-year-old Antoinette Perkins, of Berwyn, pleaded guilty to official misconduct. She'll also have to complete 100 hours of community service and is barred from working for the government ever again.

Potential for severe weather in Evanston overnight

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook overnight for parts of northeast Illinois, including Evanston. The threat of severe weather is primarily between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m., but could arrive as early as 11 p.m. Weather hazards include the potential for significant wind gusts (75+ miles per hour), downed trees, limbs and powerlines, and localized areas of torrential downpours and flooding.

Manhunt underway for escaped inmate in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, Ill. — Multiple police agencies are looking for an inmate who escaped from a transport vehicle Tuesday in St. Charles. At around 1:05 p.m., Hugo Avila, 21, was being transported to the Kane County Sheriff’s Department from the jail when he escaped the transport vehicle. The vehicle was in the area of Randall Road and Route 64 in St. Charles.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to witness some of the world’s great bands in person. That’s where Tribute Island comes to the rescue, July 30 through Aug. 1. The Tribute Band festival is being moved over to the Wyndham Garden Hotel site, 5125 Sixth Ave., with organizers referring to this year’s model as Tribute Island Dockside. Plans call for the hotel’s entire waterfront property to be turned into a festival venue, with multiple outdoor stages (instead of hotel guest parking).

Stearns School Road Bridge replaced in ongoing Illinois Tollway upgrade

The multiyear, multibillion-dollar project to upgrade the Illinois Tollway made its way to Gurnee, Illinois, this summer and the aging Stearns School Road Bridge, which goes over I-94. Work called for replacing the 70-year-old bridge with a new three-lane precast concrete structure that also includes access for bicyclists and pedestrians.
