Homeowner shot in burglary, two men sought

MOSES LAKE — Grant County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in a Sunday morning burglary-shooting, according to a statement from the GCSO. GCSO deputies and Moses Lake Police Department officers answered a call at about 6 a.m. at a house in the 12000 block of Road 4 Northeast, according to the statement. The occupants of the home told officers that two men had entered the home, shot the homeowner and fled, taking several of the victim’s firearms with them.

Semi-truck driver OK after rollover crash on westbound I-90 east of Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE — State troopers say inattention led to a semi-truck going into an I-90 median east of Moses Lake before the truck rolled, blocking the highway. Manvir S. Log truck driver airlifted to hospital after crash on SR 28 near Ephrata

EPHRATA — A Tonasket log truck driver has been airlifted to the hospital after a rollover crash Thursday morning just west of Ephrata. Gregg B. Scott, 56, was driving the log truck west on state Route 28 when the truck drifted off the right shoulder. The truck then rolled and slid across the highway, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Prototype electric airplane takes first flight

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (AP) — A prototype, all-electric airplane took its first flight Tuesday morning in central Washington state. The Seattle Times reports that if the Federal Aviation Administration eventually certifies the small airplane to carry passengers, it could become the first all-electric commercial airplane. The plane, built by startup Eviation, was built to carry nine passengers and up two pilots. It took off from Moses Lake, Washington, at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, and landed eight minutes later. The company’s goal is to show such electric planes are viable as commuter aircraft flying at an altitude of about 15,000 feet (4,572 meters). The plane, designed by engineers in Washington state and Israel, is powered by 21,500 small Tesla-style battery cells.
