ATLANTA – Over half of Pennsylvania’s counties are experiencing rises in COVID transmission, including one Valley county still with ‘high’ levels. The CDC reported Friday Montour County remains in the ‘high’ category of COVID-19 for the third straight week. Montour now has a percent positivity rate of 11.22%. Overall, 23 Pennsylvania counties are now listed with ‘high’ transmission levels.

Road maintenance in Montour County has been extended. PennDOT says work on Bloom Road has been extended to between Kaseville Road and Cherry Street through at least tomorrow. Crews will be conducting patching operations, and lane closures are to be expected during the hours of 7 am and 5 pm.

TREVORTON – The newly launched five-county broadband network to provide more high speed internet will soon be doubling its capacity thanks to some help from Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation. DANVILLE, Pa. — A home in Montour County was destroyed by flames on Tuesday afternoon. The fire broke out at a home along Ridge Road near Danville around 4 p.m. Crews had to pull one person out of the home; that person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Plans for a new solar farm in Montour County have been withdrawn. An attorney for Montour Solar One told county commissioners during a public hearing the application has been taken off the table without prejudice, which means a resubmission is planned. The project involves one thousand acres of undeveloped land on 13 parcels in the northern part of the county, plus some land in Madison Township, Columbia County. Concerns have arisen over the location, a lack of a buffer zone for some residents and technical errors in the application.
