M-Braves beat Montgomery Biscuits 10-9

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Braves (M-Braves) beat the Montgomery Biscuits 10-9 at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday, April 30. Four straight hits scored four runs for the M-Braves in the second. Andrew Moritz hit a double into the left field corner to score Jacob Pearson. Michael Harris II doubled to right and scored Moritz to give the M-Braves a 4-0 lead.

AAA: Gas Prices Still Falling Slowly In Local Area

In some parts of Mississippi, gas is selling for less than $3.50 a gallon. But in this area, pump prices have fallen a lot more slowly. AAA says the average price in Attala County is down only a penny in the past week to $3.90. That’s two cents cheaper than Neshoba County, even though the auto club says the average price there has dropped about four cents since last week to $3.92. Leake County has also seen a four cent drop in its average price, now just under $3.90. If you’re looking for a better deal, you might check stations in Montgomery County where gas is averaging under $3.65.

Gas Prices May Change Some Spring Break Plans

Oxford has some of the most expensive gas in the state, according to AAA. Of the state’s 82 counties, Lafayette County is in the top 17 counties with the highest gas prices. The average price in Oxford on Friday was $4.05 (regular) a gallon. The highest gas can be found in Claiborne County where the average price is $4.30 a gallon and the lowest gas can be found in Montgomery County where gas is $3.86 a gallon.

Firefighters Battled this Blaze for Nearly 12 Hours – VIDEO

Attala County Fire Department and Carmack Volunteers were dispatched to a woods fire on Attala Road 3205 near the Carmack area. The fire burned an estimated total of 680 acres and even spread into Montgomery County. Poplar Creek and Kilmichael Volunteers were called in to assist ACFD with the massive fire. Chief Danny Townsend says “Thanks to Montgomery County Emergency Management and Sheriff’s Department” for their assistance. MS Forestry Commission was also brought in to help contain the fire. Firefighters stayed out at this fire for nearly 12 hours keeping homes and other structures safe from the blaze as well as containing and extinguishing it. Homeowner burns down house while trying to smoke out snake infestation

A Montgomery County home was accidentally burned to the ground by an owner trying to get rid of a snake infestation, officials said. The Poolesville homeowner was attempting to use smoke to purge the snakes from the house, according to Montgomery County Fire Department officials. In the process, the homeowner caught the house on fire, causing about $1 million in damage, The Washington Post reported.
